26/8/11 - This is the Promenade on the MV Ventura, its one of my favourite parts of the ship, on this occasion there was no wind, no noise and for most of the time I was alone, gliding through this land of beauty really takes your breath away.

25/8/11 - I think the fjords of Norway are the most beautiful places in the world, I know that for a fact because if they were any more perfect then Mother Nature would have claimed them for herself and not given them to us humans. I have never been to anywhere quite so wonderful.

24/8/11 - The river that runs through Olden started its journey 10 miles inland in the Jostedalsbreen Glacier, The river is full of Salmon and the water is used by one of Norway's major bottles water companies.

23/8/11 - This chunk of ice from the glacier probably formed over 1000 years ago, over the last 1000 years it has traveled down thro the glacier, when this ice was formed Vikings still ruled the land.

22/8/11 - Here is the Bryksdal Glacier, a tiny part of mainland Europes largest glacier the Jostedalsbreen, I was here back in May with a friend and it is noticably smaller, partly because its now Summer but also because it is vanishing and in a short amount if time it will be totally gone.

19/8/11 - Last time I went to Stavanger it rained cats and dogs (and trolls) nearly all day, this time however the sun was shining, people were out and about and everyone was happy :D what a lovely town it is.

12/8/11 - This is one of the 250 apes who live on Gibraltar, they are all so lovely, I had one jump on me while I was photographing some of her family, I still have the monkey hand prints on my t-shirt :D
Thursday, 11 August 2011
11/8/11 - I like Gibraltar, I like its eccentricities like the phone boxes and English road signs, Being in Gib is MORE like being in England than actually being in England, and its a little less riotous too :D

10/8/11 - The MV Azura has several pools onboard, This is the one at the back of the ship, there are 2 others midships, on the open decks, 1 towards the front in the spa, a secret one on the front of the ship for the crew and a mini one outside the kids clubs.

9/8/11 - While walking around Ajaccio i saw this door on a church, I cant resist doors, If I find a nice looking or interesting one I HAVE to photograph it, they have so many stories to tell and hide so many secrets.

7/8/11 - This is the P&O Ship the MV Azura parked (yes parked) at Ajaccio in Corsica. she is quite a nice ship but out of the three I have worked on she has to be my least favourite simply because she was built to make as much money as possible, she is still a nice ship tho.
3/8/11 - On the afternoon of August 24th AD 79, Mount Vesuvius erupted covering Pompeii in a cloud of ash, later that night Herculaneum met her fate when mud and ash rushed down the mount at 100 miles an hour covering the town under 25 meters of volcanic debris sealing the town in and preserving it. This is one of the streets on Herculaneum and you can really get a sense of what it was like in Roman times.
1/8/11 - Here I am at the top of Vesuvius with Nat, This had to be one of the highlights of the trip away, you can almost sense the immense power building up deep in the volcano below your feet.
31/7/11 - This photo shows the nearly the whole crater of Vesuvius, it is huge and its near this point we could smell Sulphur, a sign that Vesuvius is still very active.
Saturday, 6 August 2011
29/7/11 - Our Ship stopped off in Naples and we decided that this was the perfect opportunity to go climb a Volcano, Mount Vesuvius stands at 1,281 m (4,203 ft) high, She is still very active with smoke and steam coming out of certain parts, also the smell of Sulphur. I asked a local if she was worried about living on the Volcano and she said she was sure it was nothing to worry about.
25/7/11 - Last time I went to the Vatican I totally missed out on this amazing staircase (don't ask me how as its the only way to get out). apart from the Sistine Chapel this must get more onlookers than most other things in the Vatican.

23/7/11 - Last Pic from Toulon in southern France, I liked this pool, it reminded me of the long reflecting pool in Washington DC only a lot smaller, shallower and not quite as amazing :oP
22/7/11 - We only spent a couple of hours in Toulon, I think most people did the same, I have no idea why the cruise ship stopped here, it reminded me of the Tricorn Centre while they were halfway thro knocking it down.
19/7/11 - This is Gaudi's unfinished Masterpiece the Basílica i Temple Expiatori de la Sagrada Família, when this is complete in around 2026 i think it will look odd WITHOUT the cranes.
17/7/11 - This building built in 1877 was remodelled by Antoni Gaudí in the early 1900s, locally it is known as the house of bones because on the bone shape window frames on the first few floors.
